How It Works
Upload Your Video
Upload a video file up to 100 MB. MP4, MOV, AVI, MKV, WebM, and FLV formats are all accepted. The tool reads the video duration, resolution, and current file size so you can see exactly how much compression is needed. Preview the video in-browser to confirm it's the right file before compressing.
Choose Settings
Pick a quality preset from High (minimal compression, best visual quality) to Maximum Compression (smallest file, acceptable quality for previews). Optionally reduce the resolution — dropping from 1080p to 720p alone cuts file size roughly in half. Select MP4 for universal compatibility or WebM for web embedding.
Download Compressed
Download the compressed video. The result shows how much space was saved. The compressed video is ready for email attachments, WhatsApp, iMessage, Instagram, Twitter, Discord, and any service with file size limits that your original video was too large for.
Compress Video Features
Quality Presets
Four presets cover the full range of use cases: High Quality (CRF 20, great for archiving and professional use), Balanced (CRF 28, excellent for general sharing), Maximum Compression (CRF 36, good for previews and messaging), and Social Media (optimised bitrate for Instagram, TikTok, Twitter, and WhatsApp limits). All use H.264 encoding for universal playback.
Resolution Downscaling
Reduce resolution from the original down to 1080p, 720p, 480p, or 360p. Downscaling from 4K to 1080p reduces file size by approximately 75% before any codec compression is applied. 720p at Balanced quality is the optimal choice for social media sharing — visually identical to 1080p on phone screens but a fraction of the size.
All Major Video Formats
Accepts MP4 (H.264, H.265), MOV (Apple), AVI (Windows legacy), MKV (Matroska), WebM (browser-native), and FLV (Flash). Output is MP4 (H.264) for maximum compatibility with all devices and platforms, or WebM for web embedding and browser-optimised streaming. The output always plays on any modern device.
Compression Statistics
After compression, the tool shows the original file size, compressed file size, and the percentage reduction. This helps you verify the compression was worth it and lets you choose a different preset if you need a smaller or larger output. The savings summary is shown before download.
In-Browser Video Preview
Preview your video before compressing to confirm you've uploaded the right file. The preview shows duration and file size so you can immediately assess whether a resolution downscale is needed in addition to quality compression. No waiting for server processing to check the file.
Private & No Account Needed
TLS 1.3 encrypted uploads. Files permanently deleted within 24 hours. No watermarks added to compressed videos. No account, signup, or personal information required for the free tier.

Frequently Asked Questions
It depends on the source video. A typical smartphone video at 1080p 30fps will be 35–50% smaller at High Quality with no resolution change. At Balanced quality, 55–65% smaller. At Maximum Compression, 75–85% smaller. If you also reduce resolution from 1080p to 720p, expect an additional 30–40% reduction on top of quality compression. A 100 MB 1080p video can typically become 8–20 MB at 720p Balanced quality.
At High Quality (CRF 20), the visual difference from the original is imperceptible on any screen. At Balanced (CRF 28), differences are only visible on very large displays or in fast-motion scenes. At Maximum Compression (CRF 36), blocking artifacts may appear in complex scenes or rapid motion — this preset is best for previews and messaging where small size matters more than perfect quality.
Use the Social Media preset with 720p resolution. WhatsApp has a 16 MB limit for video messages (or 2 GB for documents). Instagram allows up to 650 MB for feed posts but recompresses everything anyway, so sending at 720p Balanced saves upload time and data. Twitter / X has an 512 MB limit and recompresses to 720p — compressing first prevents double compression artifacts. TikTok recommends 720p–1080p MP4 under 287.6 MB.
4K video files are very large and typically exceed the 100 MB free tier limit. The Pro tier supports up to 500 MB input and includes H.265/HEVC encoding which cuts 4K file sizes in half compared to H.264 at the same visual quality. If your 4K video is under 100 MB (very short clips), it will work on the free tier — just reduce resolution to 1080p or 720p for significant size savings.
