How It Works

STEP 1

Pick Your System or Ingredient

Choose your home size system, ingredient, or input mode using the dropdowns and category buttons. Defaults are sensible so you can start typing immediately.

STEP 2

Enter or Pick a Value

Type a number, choose a size, or use the dual inputs (e.g. ft + in or min + sec). Conversion runs as you type — no Convert button.

STEP 3

See Every Equivalent

Below the main result, the All Conversions panel shows your value across every supported system or unit at once — perfect for international shopping or recipe scaling.

Pace Converter Features

Two-way Pace

Edit either min/km or min/mi — the other side updates automatically. No need for the swap button.

Speed Conversions

See the equivalent speed in km/h, mph, and m/s next to the pace. Useful when comparing treadmill speed (mph) to GPS pace.

Race Predictions

Live finish times for the four standard race distances: 5K, 10K, half marathon (21.0975 km), full marathon (42.195 km).

Inverse Math

Pace is inverse — slower pace = bigger number. We use the exact factor 1.609344 (km per mile) so round-trips are precise.

Live Conversion

Result updates as you type. Useful for quick pace strategy planning before a race.

100% Private

No tracking. Your training data stays on your device.

Frequently Asked Questions

5 min/km = 8:03 min/mile = 12 km/h = 7.46 mph = 3.33 m/s. At that pace a 5K takes 25 min, 10K takes 50 min, half marathon 1:45:30, marathon 3:30:59.

Recreational: 5:00–6:00 min/km (3:30–4:13 marathon). Sub-3 hour marathon: 4:16 min/km or faster. Elite men: 2:55 min/km (Eliud Kipchoge's 2:00:35 pace). Elite women: 3:14 min/km.

Multiply min/km by 1.609344. Example: 5:00 min/km × 1.609 = 8:03 min/mile. Or just enter the pace and read the converted value — that is what this tool is for.

The math assumes you hold the exact same pace from start to finish. In practice runners slow down on longer distances (the "fade"). For half/full marathon, expect 5–15% slower than the linear prediction unless you have trained for that distance.

Men: 2:00:35 (Kelvin Kiptum, 2023) = 2:51 min/km = 4:36 min/mile = 21.06 km/h. Women: 2:09:56 (Ruth Chepngetich, 2024) = 3:05 min/km = 4:57 min/mile = 19.49 km/h.
